Dogs reflected in the bin top

Struggling somewhat for photos I think. I do like my bin and the lovely reflections it produces.
I made Colin a white chocolate cheesecake for his birthday (it made up for the rubbish restaurant we went to earlier!).
31/10/08
We did go out for a better dinner at a later date. Lovely cheesecake - it lasted all week.
Linds and her hedgehog from Chapel Porth (a cone with cornish clotted cream icecream, covered in cornish clotted cream and then rolled in honey roasted hazelnuts).

The thought of a hedgehog usually makes me feel a bit sick. I maintain you only ever eat one.
We spent Saturday afternoon at a local beer festival in aid of Colin's birthday. On the way home Linds took my photo a day photo on her mobile.

A legitimate photo a day I think. And we were quite drunk too!
Fern is very chuffed with Barney's new bed. Shame she prefers it to her own!
31/10/08
It is easier to take photos of her on his bed though.
Wiiine. I've been moving the wine out of the house and into the caravan.

There's not much left : (
Wot no birds?! There have been plenty of birds visiting my feeders today but can I snap a photo of them? My camera is set up on a tripod and the IR remote works until, typically, there's a bird there, and so all I've managed to take photos of today is the bird feeders.
I must do something about the reflections too. Must find my polarising filter to see if that helps.

Shortly after this our resident grey squirrel destroyed all my feeders in one hit. Git.
Another view of (part of) Truro Cathedral.
31/10/08
I like photos without edges - I'm sure that this sort of composition has a name. Truro Cathedral is curious and part clean, and part dirty.
Barney, Fern and I went for a great walk today in the lovely (but chilly) sunshine, but I forgot to take my camera, so here's a photo of them asleep together in a small patch of sunshine.

Awwww. Sometimes you wouldn't think these two dogs even know each other but at other times, they curl up together and rest heads on each other. Very, very cute. If you like dogs.
Naughty squirrel eating my nuts! (I haven't splashed out on a new lens, I've put the bird feeders very close to the caravan window for easy photo taking).
15/10/08
Shortly after I took this photo the naughty squirrel destroyed all my bird feeders and there went my bird photo taking opportunities. I must find some squirrel-proof feeders for the winter.
Purple flowers in the garden.
15/10/08
These flowers seem to grow in our garden almost all year round. I remember seeing them when we looked at the house in November 05 and they were still there when we moved in in Jan 06. I'm not sure if they have survived the garden butchery though.
Next door's weather vane. I noticed the other day that the directional indicators are 90 degrees out.
15/10/08
Too much time on my hands and not enough inclination to get out and take my photo for the day, methinks.
An update on the valentine's card I bought for Colin. The plant looks a bit sorry for itself but it's actually not withered and droopy, it's growing quite well. I think it might need planting out but I think the instructions went in the recycling bin!
15/10/08
I must check the plant, it spent the 'summer' in the greenhouse.
Droplets again.
Focus point in middle ground (should also have done a distance focus but needed to get on with some work!).
15/10/08
This one would work well with a shorter depth of field and without the dot of dirt on the board. I'm pleased with both photos though - not bad from my rubbish P&S.
Droplets of rain that I noticed at work.
I couldn't decide between these two photos so I've posted them both. Focus point in foreground.
15/10/08
This is the better of the two. I love the shape the water droplets have formed on the newly painted surface.
Truro Cathedral looking like it is emerging from the top of a hideous carpark. Photo taken from the top of another, equally hideous carpark.

Truro Cathedral is a great hefting and quite beautiful neo gothic building but sadly it lacks a grand setting. From this angle it does look like it's sprouting out of a concrete carbuncle carpark. In reality, it is wedged in between shops and other commercial premises with no gardens or land around it to separate it from the mish mash of buildings that make up the city of Truro.
